Target Audience
This symposium is directed primarily to medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, pharmacists, registered nurses, physician assistants, nurse practitioners interested in new developments for treatment of lung cancer, head & neck cancer. No specific skill or knowledge other than a basic training in oncology is required for successful participation in this activity. Fellows are also invited to attend.
Statement of Need/Program Overview
This program is intended to facilitate interaction among oncologists, nurses, pharmacists, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners interested in the development of novel therapeutics for treatment of lung cancer, and head & neck cancer. This symposium will present data of most promising emerging agents currently in development for the treatment of lung cancer, and head & neck cancer. There will be in-depth discussion of targeted therapies for lung cancer, and head & neck cancer.
Educational Objectives
After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:
- Review agents that target angiogenesis, including the safety profile and efficacy for the treatment of lung cancer
- Review the current status of multimodality therapy for head & neck cancer
- Outline the clinical data supporting the use of EGFR inhibitors in the treatment of lung cancer
- Describe the role of systemic therapies for the treatment of head & neck cancer
- Specify the impact of multi-targeted kinase inhibitors in the management of lung cancer
- Describe the role of proteasome inhibitors, HDAC inhibitors and novel taxanes in treatment of lung cancer
- Describe novel therapeutic agents of interest for lung cancer and head & neck cancer
